Dr Cynthia Kew's Profile
Dr Cynthia Kew is a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist practicing at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital. She obtained her MBBS from the National University of Singapore and the postgraduate qualification Masters of Medicine in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She is a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine (Singapore).
Before setting up her own practice, she was a Consultant in the KK Women’s & Children’s Hospital. She held the positions of Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery Unit and Associate Program Director of the Singhealth Residency Program in O&G, the largest postgraduate training program for the specialty in Singapore. She was also on the expert panel of consultants for the KK Endometriosis Centre. Her academic appointments were Adjunct Assistant Professor in Duke-NUS School of Medicine and Clinical Senior Lecturer in Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.
Being patient and attentive in providing antenatal care to expectant mums, Dr Kew has delivered many babies over the years. Her subspecialty interest is Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery and Endometriosis. Dr Kew was awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan award for further training in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery and Endometriosis, which she completed in Sydney, Australia. She has spearheaded the set up of the KKH Endometriosis Centre since her return. She also organized and spoke at a public forum on Endometriosis.
Her dedication to patient care has led her to receive several awards such as the Singapore Health Quality Service Silver Award in 2012-2013 and the Service From the Heart Award (KKH) in 2013. She also received the Long Service Award from KKH in 2011.
Dr Kew is a member of the Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society of Singapore, the Australasian Gynecological Endoscopy Society and the AAGL.
Dr Kew has been the course director for several laparoscopy courses and has been invited as surgical trainer and speaker for international and local congresses and workshops. She also continues to participate actively in training and education, as Visiting Consultant and Advanced laparoscopy/hysteroscopy trainer at KK Women’s & Children’s Hospital.
